We are caught up in a great vision, a great need, as well as a great possibility of making the vision real, meeting the need and assisting to bring humanity to another level of consciousness.
Our immediate goal is to build a Hospice. We however are seeking to go beyond that. It is our hope to build a State of the Art Hospice that has many features not present in any Hospice on earth at this time.
We intend to create a Sanctuary, a sacred refuge, where those of any age, any race, any nationality, any religion or state of mind can come and find the way to celebrate their passage into the next dimension of existence with joy and peace. We would be so bold as to hope to finally be a small part of taking the word ‘death’ from the languages of mankind. For too long, science and religion have dealt with the ‘life saving’ methods, philosophies, beliefs to be applied at birth, throughout life but left unresolved the way, the method, the actual process of enlightened passage.
We believe we were given this high purpose of bringing together the best minds, the most noble hearts, the most faithful souls we can find and together with the best in the fields of medicine, psychology, religions, as well as hospice care at it’s present level, to a noble shift to new levels of thought, experience, scientific research, and consciousness.

The Sanctuary is dedicated to building a state of the art hospice facility for excellence in care and for excellence in research.
Our Mission Statement includes: “We would remove the word “death” from all the languages of mankind. We hope “passage” will replace and correct the mistakes the word “death” suggests. We believe the Soul cannot die and that there is only “Life!” We believe all can learn to make our passage peacefully, with dignity, joy and painless celebration.
The Sanctuary hopes to build a second major unit for Research in the area of the Psychology, Physiology, and Spiritual aspect of Passage, consciousness and human evolution. Our President, Dr. Gary Schwartz, is a professor at the University of Arizona. Dr. Schwartz will direct this unit, as well as help us find the best minds available to give Sanctuary a position of world class leadership in these and related fields.
Dr. Schwartz has the singular and unique position of heading a major university approved research center in these areas at the University of Arizona Tucson. His book The Afterlife Experiments...Breakthrough Scientific Evidence Of Life After Death, as well as his major book The Living Energy Universe celebrate and support definitions in the area of our research. Dr. Schwartz is Professor of Psychology, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Medicine; Director, Human Energy Systems Laboratory; Co-facilitator in Energy Medicine, Program in Integrative Medicine, Department of Psychology, University of Arizona at Tucson.
The Sanctuary Research Institute will benefit from the Human Energy Systems Laboratory, the first of its kind in the country, integrating the physical, biological, and social as well as behavioral science with medicine and spirituality.
We will join in seeking to bridge mind-body sciences, energy medicine and spiritual medicine. Seeking to understand the relationship between love and the long term health, the measurement of electromagnetic signals (electrostatics, EGGs and EEG, the high frequency X rays and gamma rays within and between people. We believe also there is need to continue research in the evidence for survival of consciousness after death and the effects of divinity on health, healing, as well as passage with dignity and celebration.
We will cooperate closely with the University programs in this field, (i.e. University of Arizona the Department of Psychology, Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry) and actively affiliate with Andrew Weil’s Program in Integrative Medicine. The programs of other Colleges, Research Institutes, Universities, Departments in State and National Health Sciences, etc., will be developed. We will hope to share, especially with those who are interested in working with us, the results, findings, and discoveries.
We hope to do truly visionary work in these areas in a research and medical structure outside the university but affiliated with universities as the needs and opportunities arise. It is our purpose to create an Institute that parallels the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences. We will cooperate with the Institute for the Living Energy Universe; seek to do for the evolution of consciousness what the Salk Institute has done for biological and neuroscience exploration.
Dr. Jonas Salk spoke to our President, Gary Schwartz, Ph.D., when he was a professor at Yale, about his dreams to create the Institute of Human Evolution and invited him to be its research director. Dr. Salk died before it could be realized, but we are fortunate to have that leadership now.
Among many research projects under consideration, we have a scientific hypothesis supported by ancient and modern texts that merge human evolution and the evolution of consciousness, an empirical research platform which we plan to initiate.
It is our conviction, with the discovery of the Law of Evolution, science is to act as a unifying principle among all faiths of mankind, and bring them together for the common goal of spiritual awareness. Spirituality will be the future science (eventually it will be known as the “Science of the Soul”) and science its instrument to bring the goal of evolution within the easy reach of every human being. We believe that the highest purpose of science is to validate the spirit residing in each one of us.
We come now to bring these goals to fruition and the visions nurtured and fully researched and apply in any level to assist mankind in its next step upward in evolution. It is vital to see that Life is the totality to be respected and lived, even in the process from this into the next dimension.
The Appeal
We invite you to join us in this exciting and awesome journey. We need funds to begin the process. Seed donations are historically the most difficult to secure. It is only those who are in harmony with evolving consciousness who can intuitively grasp the vision and be inwardly compelled to participate in the initial phase of a futuristic spiritual shift.
We are appealing to those who can share the vision to help us raise $250,000 in the initial seed phase. The Board of Directors of The Sanctuary pledge that not one cent of this seed money will be spent for salary for any Board Member or Trustee or other “overhead” save only the barest necessities. All working on the project to date are doing so out of their firm belief in the project and are personally funding their activities.
